Vittra Kungshagen in Nyköping is a preschool and primary school where meals play a central role in daily school life.The food is prepared from scratch in the school's own kitchen by a dedicated kitchen team consisting of Kurt, Lillemor, and Siska. A large portion of the ingredients are locally sourced, and every day both a daily lunch and a vegetarian option are offered.The school has also organized theme weeks such as "World Cuisine", where students get to taste dishes from different parts of the world. For example, women from the organization Yalla, who have recently arrived in Sweden, have cooked Middle Eastern food together with the school’s chefs.The school dining hall is decorated with flags representing the students’ home countries, and the students put up notes with translations of “thank you” and “goodbye” in various languages.

In the summer of 2021, Vittra Kungshagen was hit by a fire that destroyed large parts of the school.We quickly stepped in to equip the temporary container kitchen that was used for meal preparation while the school was being rebuilt. Once the new building was completed, we salvaged what we could from the temporary kitchen and supplemented it with the missing equipment.The bright new dining hall features a buffet line and water stations in beige laminate and stainless steel from Haglund Industri. Selected dishes are served from a kitchen hatch on a cooling plate and heated shelf from Stayhot, which also supplied the heat lamps. In the kitchen, you'll find ovens and an iVario cooking table from Rational, an induction stove from Fribergs, a boiling pan from Getinge, and a mixing machine from Varimixer. Cold storage, freezer, and blast chiller are all from Haglund Industri. In the dishwashing area, there is a tunnel dishwasher from Wexiödisk, an utensil dishwasher from Granuldisk/Nordic Clean Solutions and a waste disposer from Rensa.We also delivered refrigerated and freezer rooms, outfitted with smart shelving systems to optimize storage space, along with the centralized refrigeration system for them.
